Vietnam Unveils NDAChain to Secure National Data via Blockchain

On July 25, 2025, Vietnam reached a major milestone on its digital transformation journey by launching NDAChain, the nation’s official blockchain platform. This ambitious initiative is designed to anchor a secure, transparent, and highly efficient digital infrastructure—enabling everything from advanced public services to more seamless international trade.

As Vietnam accelerates to become a leading digital economy in Southeast Asia, NDAChain will be pivotal. Its mission is to protect national data, enhance digital trust, and empower smarter solutions across essential sectors like finance, healthcare, education, and logistics.

Building Digital Trust for a Smart Society

Nguyen Huy from the National Data Association describes the country’s approach:

“Vietnam has selected a hybrid framework blending centralized and decentralized elements. NDAChain forms a vital security layer for real-time data—essential to our digital society and economic growth.”

Vietnam’s digital economy is surging, fueled by over 100 million citizens who generate vast data daily. But legacy centralized systems are increasingly vulnerable to hacking, data breaches, and fragmented information silos that hinder data-sharing across platforms. Blockchain offers a ground-breaking fix: a transparent, tamper-evident method for storing and authenticating data.

    How NDAChain Works

NDAChain is structured as a permissioned Layer 1 blockchain—meaning only vetted, authorized participants can validate and access data. Its security and governance are managed by 49 validator nodes, including leading private sector companies like Zalo, MISA, Masan, SunGroup, and various government entities.

Its technical core uses a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) protocol, which delivers lower energy usage and faster speeds compared to legacy Proof-of-Work systems. NDAChain also integrates zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) so users enjoy full privacy while retaining verifiable data authenticity. With capacity for up to 3,600 transactions per second, NDAChain can power high-demand services across Vietnam’s digital economy.

    Real-World Solutions Powered by NDAChain

NDA DID: Among the first major applications, NDA DID (Digital Identity) lets Vietnamese citizens securely verify their identity online—for banking, public services, or digital contract signing. This system is designed to dramatically cut fraud, impersonation, and scams in both private and public domains.

NDATrace: Another key tool is NDATrace, a traceability platform that assigns unique codes to products, making it easy to confirm authenticity and quality compliance. NDATrace is compatible with strict EU standards, helping Vietnamese exporters gain easier access to global markets.

    Setting an International Example

Vietnam now joins more than 50 countries—including China (BSN), the European Union (EBSI), and South Korea (Klaytn)—who have developed national blockchain platforms to drive digital governance and spur innovation.

What sets NDAChain apart is its strong network of public-private partnerships and adherence to world-class standards such as GDPR and W3C DID. Its close alignment with the National Data Center underpins a resilient, secure nationwide data infrastructure.

    Roadmap: National Rollout and Beyond

By the end of 2025, NDAChain aims for complete mainstream integration, expanding to local authorities and universities in 2026. The next stage of development will focus on cultivating digital talent, boosting global collaboration, and building practical tools like digital wallets and e-signature solutions.

    Overcoming New Challenges

Despite its robust foundations, NDAChain still faces significant challenges:

    • Integrating with legacy IT systems
    • Gaining widespread public trust
    • Keeping pace with international interoperability standards
    • Managing risks associated with volatile digital asset markets

Vietnam’s launch of NDAChain marks a crucial evolution in digital infrastructure—fortifying data protection, improving transparency, and paving the way for secure, smart, and globally connected services for the future.
